About
Pai, inspired by a true story, is a solo performance that follows the journey of a man confronting the lasting impact of the abuse he endured at the hands of his father figures. In a stark, memory-soaked space, he reinhabits episodes of violence, ritual, shame, and silence filled with acts of control, cruelty and fleeting tenderness. He is searching for clarity, closure and a sense of self beyond his haunting past. As the past breaks through the surface of the present, Pai challenges silence, blending raw emotion with moments of beauty and hope. This visceral solo performance offers space for dialogue, healing and the possibility of letting go.
Awards
Pai has been nominated for Best Solo by the Arcanjo Awards and Best Actor by the Brazilian Academy of Theatre Arts.
Reviews
“The applause lasted a long time. Guilherme Legullo, co-conceiver and performer, captivated the audience with instantaneous transformations, incredible flexibility, and profoundly moving performance, vividly demonstrating the meaning of a ‘synthetic actor’. PA! is a deeply personal, raw, tragic story of a person who survived domestic violence and childhood trauma, passionately seeking not oblivion, but a path to themselves. — Sona Melyan, Golos Armenii (February 2, 2026, Yerevan)
“With exceptional control and presence, Guilherme Logullo delivers a performance that transforms deeply personal trauma into compelling theatrical language. By breaking the illusion of performance and engaging the audience directly, PA! creates a rare immediacy that is both emotionally powerful and artistically rigorous.” — Yusef Eradam, Tiyatro Dergisi (February 12, 2026, Istanbul)
“Even though Pai is a modest production — simple, without major technical resources — it is carried out with very good taste, and the play is consistent and solid in what it sets out to do.” — Gilberto Bartholo, O teatrome Representa (May 15, 2025, Rio de Janeiro)
★★★★ “Pai is an intimate show, and a necessary work. Guilhereme’s performance is visceral… it’s not a character he has to bring to life, but his own life that must become a character. He holds nothing back physically. The scenes are shocking and the music amplifies the intensity of each moment. The direction brought a striking perspective, adding even more emotion than the theme already carries […] moving many in the audience to tears.”— Leandro Augusto, A8 Cultur (June 9, 2025, São Paulo)
★★★★★ “A work of auto-fiction, PA! features bold strokes and a courageous commitment from its performer Guilherme Legullo. Director Arthur Makaryan seeks to transcend the mere exposure of intimate trauma, turning it into a visceral ritual of re-signifying pain […] with elements of Beckett’s theatre of the absurd and the creation of evocative images […] it seems to be one of the paths toward healing..”— Miguel Arcanjo Prado, Blog do Arcanjo (June 21, 2025, São Paulo)
“Makaryan and Logullo invest in a physical dramaturgy that preserves enigma by neither closing meanings nor signaling clear messages… what predominates is a pulsating body, in constant overflow, in a solo that resonates deeply with the spectator.” — Daniel Schenker, Critico de Teatro (Aug 19, 2025, Rio de Janiero)
